The Dawning Rock

After contemplating for several weeks, After thinking about ragas ranging from Kalyani to Neelambari (within my limited classical music vocabulary) and After several half-hearted attempts, here is a full-hearted attempt to do something new. You may call this fusion if you like. This track is loosely (& heavily) based on “Raga Bhoopalam” – the classical raga in Carnatic music that represents Dawn. Hence the title..!″

Besides fantasizing about being a Peter Gibbons at least for a couple of days at my work, I think I have a long way to go to realize some of the other fantasies. But like any ambitious man out there, I will get there! 1. Another great piece of music from you, i think after a pretty long time. Incidentally its now 8:00 AM, when I browsed and listened to this soothing number.
Btw, I wasn’t able to get the last 32 seconds (prbly 31-35 secs)

  2. Thanks Venni. You mean you were not able to listen to the last 35 seconds? Must be a problem with your buffering..
Yes. I enjoyed doing this piece as well.

  3. Listening to it this evening …for someone like me who has no clue about raagas …it just sounds super nice … the presence of the tabla and yet not overpowering …do not know if that made sense ….great work Ganpy !!

  4. Ron..Thanks for the kind words!
If you can get an output to your home theater and listen to it, you may get to hear the effects better..:-)

  5. So nice…Very soothing…Typical for the dawn..The starting of the tabla accompaniying the violin is simply superb! but that sudden interruption of Guitar, shocks you for a sec, and then it merges with the tune…maintaining the bhoopalam mood..The end of that heavy piece ,you have used 2 heavy instruments, they need more differentiation/ distinction.,i feel..may be i should listen in a better system..Ending is very good..going back to the beginning soft tune and ending it with fusion is a good idea!…first low pitch and high pitch is catchy..A very good piece of work!Keep it up!!

  6. Yeah…I know exactly the place where you are talking about heavy instruments…May be some sound adjustment will help. I had used 2 different guitar sounds.
    Thanks for your comments.
